Nicole Navarro has been passionate about animal welfare and rescue from a young age. Growing up on a large horse farm in Western, Pennsylvania nurtured her love of animals.
Nicole was first introduced to foxes in 2018 while volunteering at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm in Key West, Florida.
She quickly realized there was a need for facilities that are able to house foxes saved from the fur trade and founded Pawsitive Beginnings Inc in March of 2020.
Here at Pawsitive Beginnings our goal is to educate the public on fur farming and how you as an individual can help make fur history.
We are always available to speak with current or potential fox owners needing help with general fox care questions.
We are proud to be the only 501c3 animal rescue in the Florida Keys that takes in foxes saved from the fur trade.
For the safety and comfort of the foxes that reside here, we are not open to the general public.
If you are a school that is interested in an educational presentation, please fill out the contact form.
We are not taking volunteers at this time.
"Chasing Fur" was born from the idea behind "Chasing Ice" and "Chasing Coral", which opened the world's eyes to Global environmental issues.
Fur farming is still very much alive and well in the United States and we produced this video in-house to raise awareness on the topic as well as highlight how well our four foxes are doing after their rescue from a Midwest fur farm.
